...tear you to pieces, and rip you apart!
(This description's gonna be a DOOZY) Drawn for Stephen's Birthday~
SO I AM A GIANT DORK and have a playlist of songs I relate to Heartcore. Listen to em for ideas, relate them to things, general loserdom.
One of them happens to be 30 Seconds to Mars' "Night of the Hunter", in which the first part I relate to the first arc of Heartcore from Ame's POV. Hatred of a father, being chased from their homeland, wanting revenge. There is also mention of devils, and of ripping a female apart. So naturally, I'm all UP ONS the song since that's a dead-ringer for Heartcore. SEE I TOLD YOU I'M A DORK AAAAaaaaa.
ANYWAY, the song calms down into mantra that serves as a warning.
"Honest to God, I'll break your heart,
Tear you to pieces and rip you apart!"
It starts right around here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zK268T…
This is usually related to the fact Ame is terrified of actually getting close to anyone emotionally. AND IS ESPECIALLY RELATED TO A LOVE INTEREST, MAYBE. HMMMMM.
wrote a little excerpt, adapting a lot of the lyrics into a speech Ame makes within it. He is very smitten with the overall concept of this song and likes making me FEEL THINGS agggghghghghghh. This isn't how it'll unfold in Heartcore itself of course, but it's a fun read! Because...feelings. auughhhh
Amethyst stifled a yawn from her perch, lounging in a window and watching the sun set.
Once night fell she would probably end up playing video games for hours like she usually did,
then sleep until after dawn. She hated to admit it, but after living in New Ayers for this long she
found herself bored at times. Even sneaking out and experiencing night life, at risk of exposure to
those after her, wasn't as entertaining as she thought.
She was just debating finding and harassing Ryo when she heard the door open. Turning,
she saw her beastman comradeinarms, Syranon, walking in. "Hey, cat," she said, smirking at
him. "What brings you here? Tired of talking with the others, decided to spend some time with a
real demon?" Watching him approach, she felt her eyebrows rise in surprise when he paused mid
step and blushed before continuing forward.
"Uhh...well, sort of that last part, yes," he said, standing before her. "You seem to seclude
yourself like this a lot lately, and...and I wondered if you might like some company."
The succubus' eyes narrowed and her smirk turned malicious when she noticed he wasn't
meeting her eyes. "Ohhh? Bold, paladin, very bold. You've got some guts to be approaching me
as often as you have been lately." Her statement was quite true he had been spending more
time around her and was often the first to try and hold a conversation when she was around. "Now
why is that, I wonder?"
"I...uh...we're friends, after all, right? We're fighting the same enemies, we live in the same
place, and we're working towards the same goals. Mostly, anyway. I just want to make sure you
feel like you're one of us." He seemed to be more hesitant than normal.
Eyes widening, the succubus felt something she was unaccustomed to, an odd pressure
she felt faintly in her chest. Stifling down the sensation, she lowered her hand from under her chin
and forced a chuckle. "That's quite noble of you. Noble...and foolish. Don't forget I'm a demon,
Shaking his head, the beastman spoke much more forcefully than he usually did around
her. "Demon or not, you ARE one of us! I want to make sure you feel that you're not alone. I've
seen you, your decisions you're a demon, but you're not evil. I don't want to see you make
yourself miserable just because you don't want to admit it for some reason."
"This is because you think we're friends, huh?" The demoness cocked her head at him,
wondering what his answer would be.
"Yes. Regardless of how you want to try and define it, we're friends. And...and I'm tired of
seeing you hurting yourself by being alone."
Amethyst narrowed her eyes. "That sounded an awful lot like something different from
what I normally hear as 'friendship', beastman. What are you trying to say?"
Swallowing, Syranon steeled himself and managed to say it at last, face red. "I...I like you,
Amethyst. A lot. I've learned so much about you since we met, and...I want to be with you!"
The succubus jerked her head back as if he had slapped her. That pressure was back,
stronger, and she forced it down again with a strained grin. "Ohh, so THAT'S what this is about.
Well then, let me remind you about myself and some aspects you seem to be forgetting." Hopping
down from the window, she prowled forward with a sway in her hips, standing in front of him.
"I was born of the womb of a poisonous spell...beaten, and broken, and chased from the
land...but I rose up above it, high up above it, see? I was hung from a tree made of tongues of the
weak...the branches, the bones of the liars and thieves...and I rose up above it, high up above,
see?" As she spoke, she circled him slowly, a predator sizing up its prey, watching for any sign of
"Prayed to your god, opened your heart...whatever you do, don't be afraid of the dark..."
she taunted, clicking the overhead lights out. The red light coming in through the window cast a
wicked highlight over her sauntering form. "Don't cover your eyes, the devil's inside!
"At night I'm a hunter, and one day I will get revenge. At night I remember...and one day?
It'll all just end."
Her words were having their intended effect in unnerving him. Syranon, turning to watch
her, swallowed past the lump forming in his throat and tried to form some manner of rebuttal.
"But...that doesn't mean you have to be so hard on yourself..."
Like her own words, his efforts were affecting her. The succubus felt her smug, predatory
grin start to falter and gritted her teeth to maintain it. She placed a finger on his chest. "Shh. I'm
not done yet.
"I was blessed by a bitch from a bastard seed. I say 'pleasure to meet you', but would
rather 'to bleed'...rise, I will rise... I will rise!" Lowering her head, she thought back to the horrid
events before she came to the human realm. "They skinned me alive, ripped me apart, would
have scattered my ashes... buried my heart..."
She stopped pacing in front of him, eyes hard. "I rise up above it, high up above it, see?!"
Shaking her head, she tried making a final warning to chase him away before it was too late.
"If you're serious about being with me, then hear this...honest to God, I'll break your heart,
tear you to pieces and rip you apart...honest to GOD I'll break your heart, tear you to pieces and
rip you apart!"
Ame felt her voice falter the second time. Her eyes felt hot and knew she couldn't keep it
up for much longer. "Honest to God, I'll break your heart! Tear you to pieces and rip you apart!"
Finally, she couldn't hold it back any longer. Tears started flowing freely and she grabbed
the front of his shirt, clenching fabric in both hands. "Honest to God I'll break your heart...tear you
to pieces... and rip you apart...aaaaaaAAAHHHHH!"
Giving into the emotions she had tried so hard to bury, she let out a wailing cry. She felt
the strength drain from her legs and started sinking down to the floor, sitting on her knees. Taking
a shaking breath, she broke out into a fresh series of sobs when she felt Syranon kneel before
her. When his arms went about her shoulders, she buried her face in his chest, letting his shirt
soak up her tears.
"Amethyst..." she heard him mutter, barely audible above her cries. He ran his hand over
her hair gently as she let out all of the pain and loneliness she had been keeping inside for so long.
Through the window, the red rays of the setting sun shone a comforting glow on the two of
them. It would be long set before the two moved.
FEELINGS ARE GROSS.
